Ever since i had read Arundhati Roy's God of Small Things, it had always been my fascination to visit Kumarakom. Any Kerala-lite can easily identify with the characters of the story and their life style. The backwaters of Kerala are brought to its best splendour at Kumarakom. I got an opportunity early this year, when along with my family i visted this beautiful place. We roamed around the place, and had a great boat ride in the waters, and dropped down for a strol in the Pathira Mannal island. These are some of the snaps from the boat ride:
An house boat, starting a journey into the backwaters. Now this is making a turn in the narrow channel leading to the waters.

We had just entered the waters. All along the coastline at one end you can see numerous resorts enticing you to visit the land.

As the houseboats floats over the mystic waters

This is the entrance to the Pathira Mannal island
As we took a stroll in the island.
View of the waters from the other end of the island

We watched the Sunset as we made our way back to the shore.

Good Pictures; The god's own country is so valuable in all means, but the people there doesn't evaluate its value, just rate down travelling through any other states which could show up such varient scenarios.
